Does Your Business Resonate?

Here’s why I ask. I’ve coached and mentored many solopreneurs over the years and I started to notice something, the solopreneurs whose businesses took off like wildfire got very in touch with the essence of their business in three key areas: 1) who they are, 2) who their customers are, and 3) what they’re really selling behind their snazzy titles and packaging.

Essence is the thing behind the thing. It’s the core energy that is always present but not always easy to describe. You can see and feel essence but not in obvious ways. Essence is that special something people notice and want to be around! It’s what will make your business RESONATE.

When you think about it, you can get just about anything you want from several different sources. Why do you choose what you choose? Pay attention the next time you buy something that adds value to your life and/or business in some way. Why are you really buying what you’re buying? Are you buying because of price, packaging or something less tangible, yet more powerful?

As a solopreneur it’s important to get in touch with the essence of your business (the deeper soul purpose of it) so you can infuse it into the products and services you create. When you do, you create a truly unique, conscious business.

A conscious business is a business others can connect to on a deeper level because it has that “special thing”…a special energy about it. Instead of feeling flat, it feels alive. Instead of being “in your face”, it feels welcoming and authentic. Instead of turning you off, it inspires.

A conscious business attracts like-minded and like-energy loyal, raving fans because they can clearly see and feel Who You Really Are.

How do you infuse your business with essence (your soul-inspired purpose)?

One thing: you get very clear on what makes you YOU. You dig deep. You get to know yourself inside and out. You get to the heart of what makes you unlike any other.

When you have this kind of profound clarity you can infuse your business with something that is truly unique, perhaps even remarkable, and in no way duplicatable.

What to Watch for On Your Soul Journey

In Your Power to Create by Caroline Myss she states that as soon as you set out to create something new…as soon as you make a declaration, the next thing to happen, every time, is self-sabotage.

I hope in some ways that’s good news! 1) It happens to all of us! 2) Its a sure sign you are growing. 3) Simply being aware this is how it works gives you power to choose how you respond in the moment.

Your soul journey - awakening your brilliance - is also called a “hero’s journey” for a reason. It’s not for the faint of heart and there will be ups and downs. BUT, (and this is a BIG but), listening to, feeling and being aware of your soul and your soul’s nudges will awaken your life in a way nothing else, or no one else can.

Your soul journey can be made a bit easier by knowing what to watch for along the way. Here are some common traps to be aware of:

Knowing vs. KNOWING: Have you ever given someone positive feedback and have them respond with a wave of their hand and a “oh, I know that”, dismissing your compliment and their brilliance in one quick wave? There’s a difference between knowing your brilliance (like in a head sort of way) and really KNOWING your brilliance (like an in the bones sort of way).

Pushing vs. Allowing: When you feel your soul nudges do you start pushing your way to the finish line or do you allow the “seed of desire” your soul plants in you time to germinate? Think of it this way, you can’t make an oak tree grow faster. You can only nurture it along, take care of it and pay attention to it.

Pretending You Don’t Know When You Really DO KNOW: Ever fall into this trap? Your instincts are telling you to turn right and you still go left. What’s that about? Many times that’s about denying what you’re really feeling because you know if you start closely listening to your soul your life will change. (But who said that would be for the worse?)

Trusting Others More Than Yourself. It’s important to listen to experts and mentors…it’s important to get feedback, but never replace someone else’s gut instincts for your own. Your soul depends on you to trust yourself enough to make decisions based on your highest potential. You won’t be able to do that if you dismiss your own instincts for someone else’s.

Failing to Put into Words Your Brilliance: Words will make your brilliance feel more tangible and is how you start the process of molding your brilliance into form. I know that language often fails us, but still it’s important to have words to describe your brilliance. Remember, the words you put together really only have to mean something to you.
